Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to design, operate, and optimize a hybrid IT environment spanning on-premises infrastructure and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role is responsible for maintaining high availability, performance, and security across physical servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and cloud resources, while ensuring seamless integration between on-prem and AWS environments. The ideal candidate will lead system provisioning, patching, backup and disaster recovery, identity and access management, and network configuration, while implementing automation and monitoring to improve reliability and efficiency. You will collaborate with DevOps, security, and application teams to support production workloads, enforce compliance standards, and troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, serving as a key technical authority for hybrid architecture design and operational excellence.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain hybrid infrastructure integrating on-prem systems with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Administer physical servers, virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware/Hyper-V), storage systems, and networking components
  • Manage core services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, identity and access management (IAM), and group policies
  • Ensure high availability and performance of critical systems through capacity planning, tuning, and redundancy design
  • Own patch management, OS hardening, and vulnerability remediation across all environments
  • Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies
  • Monitor system health using centralized logging and monitoring tools; respond to alerts and incidents
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across computing, storage, network, and hybrid connectivity layers
  • Configure and maintain secure connectivity between on-prem and AWS (e.g., VPNs, Direct Connect equivalents)
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and configuration management tools
  • Support compliance and security initiatives (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2) through controls, documentation, and audits
  • Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to support application deployments and infrastructure needs
  • Maintain documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational procedures
  • Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management of hardware and software assets
  • Design OS level monitoring and proactively address issues
  • Provide escalation support for critical incidents and mentor junior IT staff

Core Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience in systems administration across enterprise IT environments
  • Proven experience operating hybrid infrastructure integrating on-prem systems with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Strong expertise in Windows Server and/or Linux administration
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Hyper-V) and enterprise storage systems
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Experience with identity and access management, including Active Directory, LDAP, and SSO integrations
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions and high-availability architecture
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools
  • Experience implementing security best practices, including patching, hardening, and vulnerability management
  • Working knowledge of compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2
  • Experience supporting production environments with strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) is a plus
  • Exposure to containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Strong documentation skills and experience maintaining operational runbooks
